The job
Drive 100 km in Spain in a new battery-electric, plug-in hybrid or hybrid car, and pay only for the energy: fuel at the national average pump price and electricity at a stated scenario price.
Nobody is ranked. Not plotted. Quality has not been measured, so the list below is cost only and not an order of merit.
Cost for this job
Energy cost per 100 km, home charging, base scenario, in EUR per 100 km, cheapest first within each group. Not in order of merit; says nothing about quality.
Workload and assumptions
One hundred kilometres. This is an energy-cost scenario, not total cost of ownership: no purchase price, insurance, tax, tyres, servicing or depreciation. Cost is the official consumption times a price. Headline: home charging, base scenario (EUR 0.20 per kWh, an editorial assumption). Each row lists the home-low (EUR 0.12), public-base (EUR 0.55) and public-low (EUR 0.35) figures; fuel is the same in every scenario.

What evidence would settle it
The three conditions and what is missing
Vendor claims about their own quality count for nothing in the score. A rating needs a listening test with raw results, or a licensed source that allows reuse.
- Measure quality for BMW IX1 EDRIVE20, BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin, BYD Seal, BYD Seal U DM-I, Cupra Formentor E-Hybrid and 24 more: Real-world consumption against the official figure (% above the official figure). At least one auditable or documented measurement per option.
- Name at least two options that are measured. Today 0 are.
The three conditions for naming a best option
- The leader's lower bound must exceed every other option's upper bound by at least 3 points. Not assessed.
- Every critical metric must come from two independent origins, or from one auditable test of our own. Not assessed.
- The price must be verified within 30 days. Not assessed.
Sources and limits

No quality score is published on this board. Prices are facts read from each vendor's page and link back to it.

Notes on this board. Car consumption data: European Environment Agency (EEA), Monitoring of CO2 emissions from passenger cars, 2024 - Final, DOI 10.2909/5018ec17-2348-4c92-8761-6f2377bbd1c0, copyright holder Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Changes by Inadviser: Spanish registrations only; variants grouped into models and averaged by number of cars; electric consumption converted from Wh/km to kWh per 100 km. The EEA does not endorse Inadviser. Fuel prices: Origen de los datos: Ministerio para la Transición ecológica y el Reto Demográfico. Filling-station price feed last updated 05/11/2026 15:45:40; national average computed by Inadviser (unweighted mean over stations, excluding the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla). The Ministry does not take part in, sponsor or support this use. Official consumption comes from the EEA monitoring data for new cars registered in Spain in 2024 (final data). Electric energy is the EEA field 'Electric energy consumption' (Wh/km); the EEA table does not say where it is measured, so this board does not claim it is at the plug or at the battery. A model is the registered variants that share make, commercial name as Spain reports it, fuel type and powertrain; its consumption is the mean over its cars, and each row shows the spread between variants. The board lists the ten most registered models of each of the three powertrains whose consumption is reported for at least 80% of their cars: thirty at most. Plug-in hybrids: the official figures depend on an official utility factor, an assumed share of driving on electricity. Real use differs and can cost much more if the battery is rarely charged. This caveat is for plug-in hybrids only; battery-electric figures carry no utility factor. Hybrids that are not plug-in: the EEA table does not separate full hybrids from mild hybrids, so a model sold as both is one averaged row. Fuel price: national average of the Spanish filling-station prices published by MITECO (unweighted mean over stations that list the fuel, excluding the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla), petrol 95 E5 for petrol cars and diesel A for diesel cars. Electricity prices are editorial assumptions dated 2026-11-05, not a dataset; no real-world quality score exists, so nobody is ranked.
Scores are on a 0 to 100 scale against editorial anchors that are not yet validated. Prices are for the workload above and change without notice. Evidence older than 730 days is left out, and prices older than 30 days are flagged.
